Exciting speaker for WIT 25 event for tradeswomen

This year’s Women Installers Together conference is the 8th, annual, all day event by-and-for all tradeswomen in UK and organised by Stopcocks Women Plumbers.
This year it is on Friday 4th July, at The Camden, in London and drumroll please…. the special guest speaker this year is Konnie Huq, presenter of Blue Peter and many other TV programmes.
Expect the usual high energy buzz of tradeswomen meeting up for their once a year celebration, excellent speakers and networking, this year, in our new venue in the heart of fashionable Camden (get us!)
Tickets as always and thanks to the support of our sponsors, are free for tradeswomen and trainees, and only £60 for allies and interested parties. Get tickets, and more information here https://stopcocks.uk/conference
The event was begun in 2017 by Hattie Hasan because she recognised the isolation of tradeswomen many of whom still only meet other skilled tradeswomen at this event and who still train in colleges without toilets for women trainees!
Thanks in great part to the publicity around this event, things are gradually changing and in some construction companies there are now specialists in DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), however, skilled trades are more than construction and the maintenance sector continues largely unchanged with the biggest percentage being around 6% of women in the painting and decorating industry – gas engineers, plasterers, electricians are all still fewer than 1% women and plumbers around 2%.
On 4th July our founder and regular host Hattie Hasan MBE will guide us all through the day and our theme this year of Looking After Ourselves, starting with her introduction and keynote speech. Next we’re on to the roundtable discussions where sponsors and guests can hear tradeswomen share their experiences and self-care (in all its forms) tips.
After lunch is Five Minutes of Fame, where tradeswomen around the room, take up the mic and then our guest speaker Konnie Huq will share her story; we think everyone will be surprised at the similarities even though she’s from a different field.
Finally our amazing raffle tops the bill as always.
Each activity is separated by opportunities for tradeswomen to meet each other and talk to our amazing sponsors, who this year are: Mark Vitow, Impey/Coram, LCL Awards, Octopus Energy, Resideo, Sureserve, Monument Tools, Halcyon Water Conditioners, SMG, On The Tools, City Plumbing, Vaillant UK and Mira Showers.
We still have room for a very few more sponsors, who are especially welcome from the electrical, painting and decorating and plastering sectors.
Donations to the fantastic raffle are also welcome from companies who want to support this severely under-represented but wonderfully loyal group.
