Norfolk housing development first to benefit from fully-funded solar and battery scheme

- East Anglia’s Zero In Developments partners with solar company Gryd to build homes with solar and battery included – at no cost to the buyer
- UK-first model will see homeowners save over £330 on energy bills in first year – with systems funded and maintained for 25 years
- Partnership set to expand to further new-build developments across the East of England
East Anglia developer Zero In Developments has partnered with solar energy provider Gryd to deliver homes with full-sized solar and battery storage systems – at no cost to homebuyers.
Lower Farm Mews in Tittleshall, Norfolk is the first development to benefit from the scheme. Each of the nine homes will come equipped with a fully-funded solar and battery storage system, optimally sized to meet the energy needs of the individual properties.
Funded and operated by Gryd, the UK-first scheme answers the growing demand for home renewable systems that can give consumers more energy independence and control of their bills.
The partnership allows homebuyers to benefit from clean energy and bill savings from the day they move in, without the hassle or expense of owning the solar panels on their roof. Households pay a low monthly fee that is fixed for the system’s 25-year lifespan and includes all servicing, monitoring, and maintenance.
In the first year alone, a typical three bed all-electric home can save over £330, with savings increasing over time. The system includes EV charging provision and places no restrictions on energy usage.
With the Future Homes Standard set to mandate rooftop solar for nearly all new homes, Gryd’s subscription model removes the biggest historic barrier to solar adoption – the high upfront cost of the hardware. Homeowners benefit from immediate savings with no hardware costs to repay and no premium added to the purchase price. Homeowners can buy out the system at any time, with no fees or penalties, or transfer their subscription to a new owner should they sell the property.

All homes in the Lower Farm Mews development also feature air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, and repurposed building materials to further reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
Jed Jordan, Director at Zero In Developments, said: “At Zero In Developments, our focus is on delivering high-quality, low carbon homes. Every project is unique and brings its own challenges, which is why we take a holistic approach to sustainability – embedding it in early design thinking to understand what can be achieved within the constraints of each development.
By partnering with Gryd, we’re able to provide homeowners with the benefits of solar power and battery storage from the day they move in – without adding a premium to the purchase price. With energy independence becoming increasingly important to buyers, Gryd’s unique model offers a practical way to reduce bills, cut carbon emissions and future-proof our developments, while giving homeowners flexibility and choice around ownership. We’re excited to continue working together and building on this partnership.”
Mohamed Gaafar, CEO and Co-Founder of Gryd, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Zero In Developments. They share our vision for the future of British housing that is truly future-proofed and energy independent.
“At Gryd, we believe no one should be priced out of the benefits of on-site renewable energy, and our model is designed to make solar and battery systems accessible from day one, without adding to the purchase price. This partnership will see more homeowners in the East cut their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint – without the cost and responsibility of ownership. We see this as a practical and scalable way to bring clean energy to more homes, and we look forward to expanding its reach.”
Zero In Developments is both an investor in Gryd and now a partner. Their partnership is set to expand to further housing developments across the East of England later this year.
The nine Lower Farm Mews homes are available for sale from August 2025. Further information about the properties can be found here.
