Created in 2012 by Gratnells, the Learning Rooms project not only celebrates the value of different learning environments, it seeks to turn outmoded classroom models into places where both teaching and learning become inspirational, motivational and exciting.

The new Learning Rooms website, which launched in May 2018, has been specifically designed to better exemplify the Learning Rooms concept and make accessing the latest ideas, designs and examples easier than ever before. Classroom design, lighting, organisation, outdoor learning and teaching tips are just some of the features available on the refreshed site.

Gratnells hopes the Learning Rooms website will become a one-stop resource for educators, and ultimately will help improve the learning environment for children all over the world. The inclusion of functions such as ‘Whats in My Tray’ (an in-house inspiration of lessons and games applicable to Maths, Science, Outdoor or creative education) is further testament to this ideology.

Manufacturer of the iconic Gratnells Tray, the Harlow-based company believes the learning environment has a profound impact on the learning outcomes for children and developed the Learning Rooms ethos to design environments which enable teachers to be as effective as possible. Working with academics, educationalists, teachers and architects, the companies vision is to create better spaces for children to learn and teachers to teach.

Gratnells Managing Director and Chairman, Murray Hudson says Gratnells is privileged to be part of a global movement that is shaping the learning environment, “There is ample evidence now, both empirical and anecdotal, that children’s learning environments will affect their progress and development at school.  That’s why we developed Gratnells Learning Rooms and why we were so pleased to be able to continue contributing towards this project”.

Through increasing evidence from academic research and personal testimony around the world, it’s clear that the physical setting and arrangement of a classroom can have a profound effect on the way children learn, play and interact with each other and with the teacher.

The launch of the new Learning Rooms website further demonstrates Gratnells commitment to the project and close work with schools, local authorities and governments to deliver the best learning outcomes possible for children.
