First families move into new south Norfolk homes at all-affordable development

The first families have moved into a new 35-home development in south Norfolk, just over a year after building work began.

The Station View development off Vince’s Road in Diss is being built by Flagship Homes, part of Bromford Flagship, working with contractor Marfleet & Bradshaw.

More than half the homes are now occupied, with local families having now moving into 10 of the site’s 21 affordable rent properties managed by Victory Homes, and eight of its 14 shared ownership homes. The development should be fully complete by December.

Flagship Homes project manager Simon Floor said: “Our aim is addressing local need for housing by providing these much-needed homes, and it’s been a joy to see the site come together.

“Marfleet & Bradshaw has been a fantastic partner for this development, and we’ve had a positive reaction from locals. You can’t ask for much more, really.”

The project has used Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), meaning timber frames have been built in sections off site before assembly on site. This cuts build time significantly and creates highly energy-efficient homes.

Each property comes with an air source heat pump for heating and electric vehicle charging points – helping residents reduce bills and future-proof their homes. Some will also feature MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) systems, which keep fresh air circulating whilst capturing heat that would otherwise be lost.

A large green space has been turned into a play area, with other areas set aside for wildlife and biodiversity. The development has been supported through Homes England funding, and sits just a short walk from Diss railway station, with its excellent transport links.
