One month after the Essex Housing Awards 2025: Placemaking, Pride, and Potential

It has been a month since the Essex Housing Awards 2025, and the pride and conversations around the event continue.

The celebratory evening brought together 250 guests at the stunning Hylands House for the Essex Housing Awards 2025, in association with Birketts LLP, CHP and Estuary Housing Association.

The Essex Housing Awards shifted to a new and bigger venue this year, with the growth of our community. We are so happy to accommodate 80 more guests compared with 2024, through a limited ticket release.

Alastair Pollock, Strategy Coordinator at Essex Developers Group & South Essex Housing Group, said:

“We began the Essex Housing Awards at the County Hotel, Chelmsford, in 2019, where we first tested the appetite for an awards evening with the development sector, with just over 100 guests in attendance. It is amazing to see how the event has grown over five years, now welcoming more guests than ever before. We are growing each year and we are excited to have such a connected and passionate housing community in Essex, dedicated to excellence in placemaking and serving the county’s diverse residents.

“We look forward to the awards growing alongside the industry, fostering pride, broadening perspectives and exploring potential innovations for years to come. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far.”

Hosted by the charismatic Mark Easton, this year’s event brought together housing professionals, architects, planners, surveyors, land agents, contractors and rising stars to celebrate the winners and the shortlisted individuals across 12 award categories, including Excellence in Construction Skills, Smart Working, and awards for individuals like the Housing & Development Professional of the Year. This year, we noted an incredible 87% increase in submissions, with judges praising the quality, creativity, and ambition of entries.

Ryan Liversage, Area Director (Essex), Morgan Sindall, as a first-time sponsor, said:

“The Essex Housing Awards are significant; they highlight excellence, innovation, and the people driving positive change in housing across the county. For us, the highlight of the evening was the opportunity to network and showcase the breadth of talent in Essex, reinforcing the strength and creativity of the housing community across the county.

“With Essex’s housing demand rising by 37%, it is vital to showcase best practice and celebrate those meeting this challenge. We were proud to sponsor the awards and would be delighted to do so again.”

Thank you to all of our sponsors for making this year’s event possible. The Essex Housing Awards 2025 was once again delivered in partnership with Housing Essex, Essex Developers Group (EDG), South Essex Housing Group (SEHG) and the Essex Housing Officers Group (EHOG), and sponsored by Birketts, CHP, Estuary Housing Association, Anderson Developments, Countryside Partnerships (part of the Vistry Group), Ground Control, Higgins, Kind & Company, Morgan Sindall.

Steven Kay, Partner and Head of Residential Development Sector Group, Birketts LLP, commented: “I thought this year’s event was the best yet and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening.”

Nina Ferster, Assets Surveyor, Property Services, Tendring District Council, said: “It was truly inspiring to see the achievements across Essex and to celebrate all the great work being done.”

Amy Butler‑Priestley MRICS, Associate Director, Oxbury Chartered Surveyors, added: “Our team really enjoyed ourselves. Onwards and upwards to Essex Housing Awards 2026!!!”
